Water filter installation
Sydney's tap water is treated and safe to drink, but plenty of people prefer the taste of filtered water, or want to cut down on chlorine taste and odour, sediment and the cost of bottled water. A properly installed water filter gives you clean, great-tasting water straight from the tap. We install under-sink filters, whole-house systems and fridge water lines, and we can change your filter cartridges on schedule so the system keeps working as it should.
Filter options we install
Under-sink filters
A compact unit in the kitchen cupboard feeding a dedicated filter tap or your existing mixer.
Whole-house filters
Fitted where the water enters your home, filtering water to every tap, shower and appliance.
Fridge water lines
Connecting a water line to your fridge's ice maker and water dispenser, with an inline filter if needed.
Filter tap installs
Dedicated filtered water taps, including combination mixers with a separate filtered outlet.
Cartridge replacements
Swapping out used cartridges so your filter keeps performing.
Choosing the right filter
We'll talk through these questions to match a filter to your home.
- What do you want to filter? Taste and odour, sediment, or something more specific. Different cartridges target different things.
- Drinking water only, or the whole house? Under-sink suits drinking and cooking water. Whole-house suits those wanting filtered water everywhere.
- How much space is under the sink? Some systems are bulkier than others, especially multi-stage units.
- Do you rent or own? Renters should check with their landlord before installing a filter.
- How often will cartridges need changing? Ongoing cartridge cost and replacement intervals vary by system.
How the install works
Most under-sink filter installs are a straightforward job. We tee off the cold water supply, mount the filter housing in the cupboard, and connect it to a dedicated filter tap or a combination mixer. That may mean drilling a tap hole in the sink or benchtop, which we'll discuss with you first. For stone benchtops, we'll check what's involved before we start.
Whole-house systems are fitted on the main water line, usually near the meter or where the pipe enters the house, and need enough space and protection from the weather. Fridge lines are run from a nearby cold water supply with an isolation valve so the fridge can be pulled out and serviced.
Keeping your filter working
A filter is only as good as its cartridge. Once cartridges reach the end of their life they stop doing their job, and flow may drop. We can replace them for you and let you know when the next change is likely to be due.

Common questions
Is Sydney tap water safe to drink?
Yes. Sydney's drinking water is treated and monitored. Many people filter it for taste and to reduce chlorine and sediment.
Can you install a filter I've already bought?
In most cases, yes. We'll check it includes everything needed and suits your plumbing.
How often do filter cartridges need replacing?
It depends on the system and your water use. Most manufacturers give a recommended interval, often somewhere between six and twelve months.
Can a filter connect to my existing kitchen mixer?
Some systems can, but many people prefer a dedicated filter tap or a combination mixer with a separate filtered outlet.
We install water filters in Little Bay, Malabar and Matraville.
